Jian Wang Cello
Jian Wang began to study the cello with his father when he was four. Mr Stern’s encouragement and support paved the way for him to go to the United States and in 1985 he entered the Yale School of Music under a special programme where he studied with the renowned cellist Aldo Parisot. Jian Wang has performed with many of the worlds leading orchestras, including Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw orchestra, and New York Philharmonic. These concerts have been with many of the greatest conductors, such as Abbado, Sawallisch, Jarvi, Chailly, Dutoit, Eschenbach, Chung, Gilbert and Gustavo Dudamel. As a jury member, Jian Wang has judged many of the most important competitions, including the Tchaikovsky cello competition, and the Queen Elizabeth cello competition. Jian Wang has made many recordings, his latest releases being the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Sydney Symphony and Vladimir Ashkenazy. His instrument is graciously loaned to him by the family of the late Mr. Sau-Wing Lam.
Sunwook Kim Piano
Sunwook Kim came to international recognition when he won the prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition in 2006, aged just 18, becoming the competition’s youngest winner for 40 years, as well as its first Asian winner. He has performed the world’s leading orchestras, including London Symphony, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Berlin Radio Symphony, NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, Finnish Radio Symphony, London Philharmonic, Radio-France Philharmonic, NHK Symphony, and Philharmonia Orchestra. He has been Invited regularly for the performance at Wigmore Hall, the London International Piano Series (Queen Elizabeth Hall), Stockholm Konserthuset, Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, La Roque d’Antheron International Piano Festival in France, Kioi Hall in Tokyo, Symphony Hall Osaka, Brussels Klara Festival, Beethoven-Haus Bonn, Klavier-Festival Ruhr and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele. He recorded two concerto discs (Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ concerto and Unsuk Chin’s piano concerto) with the Seoul Philharmonic and Myung-Whun Chung for Deutsche Grammophon. Released three solo albums with Accentus Label as well.
